The Blog Writing Kit

Free pre-publish checklist generator

Choose the kind of post you are publishing and where it will appear, and this generator builds the checklist that fits it — headline, opening, structure, links, images, meta, close and proofreading, plus the items only your post type needs. Tick items off, print it, and your progress waits on this device.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, sent to a server or stored anywhere except this device. This tool is template- and rule-based — it does not use generative AI, and it will never invent a fact for your post.

Your post

Switch the post type and watch the list change: a comparison gains a “last checked” date for its prices; a how-to gains a step-testing item. A generic checklist would have missed both.

Worked example

A guide published on your own blog produces thirteen base items plus two of its own — the new post added to the blog index, and one older related post updated to link to it. Change the destination to client work and those two swap for the client's requested format and an invoice note ready to send with the draft: the step that turns a published post into a paid one, which is where this kit hands you back to the Get Paid Kit on the main site.

The method

How it works

  1. Built for the post, not from a template drawer. The base items cover every post; the post type and destination add the items that only apply to yours — price-check dates for comparisons, step-testing for how-tos, the sitemap step for your own blog.
  2. Progress is kept locally. Ticks are saved per post-type combination on this device, so the half-finished check from this morning is still half-finished — and still private — this afternoon.
  3. The last item is a human one. Every list ends with reading the post aloud. No tool on this page can do that for you, and it catches what every automated check misses: the sentence you stumble over is the sentence your reader would have stumbled over too.

What this tool does not do

  • A checklist catches omissions, not weak writing. A post can pass every item and still not be worth publishing — that judgement stays with you.
  • It does not publish, schedule or upload anything. It ends where your publishing tool begins.
  • Ticks are stored per device and browser. Clear your browser data and the slate is wiped clean — printed copies are the permanent record.

Questions

Pre-Publish Checklist Generator questions

Because different posts fail in different places. Comparisons go stale, so they get a dated price check. How-tos break when a step is out of order, so they get a step-testing item. A single generic list long enough to cover everything would be long enough to ignore — so this generator builds the list your post actually needs.
Yes, on this device only, in your browser's local storage — the same privacy model as every other tool here. Nothing about your post, its type or your progress is sent anywhere. Print the checklist if you want a copy that survives clearing your browser data.
That is one of its three destinations. Choose “a client's site” and the list gains the items client work needs: the draft in the format the client asked for, the word count stated, and your invoice or next-step note ready to send alongside the draft.
